ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Rochester man accused of recklessly driving and killing a recent May High graduate will go in trial August 25. Sterling Haukom.,35, is accused of vehicular homicide and drunken driving. In the February accident, Haukomn’s pickup slammed into a car driven by Erika Cruz, 18, on the Southeast Side near the Lincoln School. A blood sample put Haukom put his his blood-alcohol-concentration above .25%, triple the legal max. He told police he had downed 15 alcoholic drinks and was speeding through the Lincoln School neighborhood because he was upset over an incident at a bar.
