WINONA, Minn. – A Chetek, Wisconsin, man, Matthew John Thibault, 31, made a big mistake. He filled up at the Kwik Trip at Highway 61 and Homer Road, on the Far East End, and drove off without paying. An alert clerk caught the license plate – but the numbers were covered with black duct tape. With the vehicle’s description, police made contact. Yes, the plates were covered ver. But why? The vehicle had been stolen from a dealer’s lot the day before. Tis was all about 8:30 a.m.
