WINONA, Minn. — The Democrat who sees himself as Winona’s next representative in the Minnesota House, Dan Wilson, has made his candidacy official. Wilson presented 500 signatures to Chelsi Wilbright, the county election supervisor, to be on the ballot. With 500 signatures, the usual $100 filing fee was waived. It is expected that incumbent Aaron Repinski, a Republican, will file his papers soon. Wilson made his filing a media event, repeating his claim to having raised $72,000 for his campaign: “If fundraising is viewed as a proxy for enthusiasm, then it’s clear that we have a lot of it.” The Repinski-Wilson race is closely watched statewide as competitive and could break the 67-67 Democrat-Republican split in the House that has stalled the legislative process this year.
