PETERSON, Minn. – The Winona County Dive Rescue team recovered the body of a fisherman who had gone fishing alone on the Root River. Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge ordered an autopsy. Authorities had been notified about midnight Tuesday that the man, William Michel, 58, of Rushford, hadn’t returned as expected. The body was recovered about 1 p.m. a short distance downstream from his flotation raft.
