ROCHESTER, Minn. — The tip-off was when police spotted drug paraphernalia in plain view in a car that had run a red light. They then found more drug gear and a and a loaded .38-caliber handgun with its serial number scratched off. Arrested was a passenger in the car: Darryl Mallory, 31, of Rochester. Police said Mallory, a felon, had the gun and a small bag strapped to his body. The driver of the vehicle, a 2012 Chevy Equinox, was a 52-year-old man. He was ticketed for driving with a suspended license, driving with an expired vehicle registration, and possessing drug paraphernalia. This was all about 10 p.m. in the 800 block of Fifth Street Northwest.
