RICHFIELD, Minn. — The electronics retailer Best Buy will close its stores on Thanksgiving to mitigate crowds that it usually lures with heavy early holiday discounting. The coronavirus pandemic factored into the decision, the company said: “We can all agree that, so far, 2020 has turned out differently than what we might have expected. And now, the holiday season at Best Buy, including Thanksgiving Day, is going to look different, too.” This year the company is expected to promote heavy discounting ahead of Thanksgiving. Last year the electronics chain opened at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The chain has stores in LaCrosse and Rochester.
