WINONA, Minn. – The assistant city manager, Chad Ubl, will take over as acting city manager for the time being. The announcement was issued by city personnel manager Deb Beckman as part of a statement that confirmed that the City Council had fired Steve Sarvi as city manager. Ubl had answered to Sarvi. According to Ubl’s job description he serves as city manager in the manger’s absence. What next? Uncertainty reigns at City Hall. Options are up to the City Council. The options include launching a formal search immediately. Ubl could apply. The Council also could leave the $150,000 a year position officially vacant as along as it wants with Ubl standing in.
