MINNEAPOLIS – The state Democratic Party accused a primary election candidate, Antone Melton-Meaux, of hiding his financial backers’ identities in his campaign to unseat the high-profile incumbent Illhan Omar. Melton-Meaux has set up mysterious shell companies to hide millions of dollars in spending, said party chair Ken Martin. Martin has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission. The primary is Tuesday the 11th. Melton-Meaux called Martin’s complaint frivolous and a sign that Omar is desperate. She was elected in 2018 from the Minnesota Fifth Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis and parts of Anoka and Ramsey counties.
