MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – A Winona County judge, Mary Leahy, was lax in supervising a law clerk and even signed off on flawed timesheets, according to a reprimand from the state judicial conduct review board. In a multi-point reprimand, the Board said that an investigator had found that Leahy’s law clerk was allowed to store personal belongings at the courthouse and was having her mail sent to the courthouse. Defending herself in a closed hearing, Leahy had claimed she merely was trying to help the clerk during a difficult personal time. Also, the Board said the judge had approved timesheets for the clerk for off-site hours that had not been authorized.
