RED WING, Minn. – A fire in a cafeteria ceiling at the Red Wing Hugh School was suppressed quickly. Superintendent Karsten Anderson said the school was unoccupied at the time. The fire call was about 8 p.m. Firefighters quelled the flames within half an hour. Damage was minimal. Anderson blamed the fire tentatively on a lighting fixture.  Students were advised to shift to distance learning while crews cleaned up damage.

Fire confined to interior. The school has 970 students in Grades 7 to 12.
