WASHINGTON — The U.S. House voted 220-207 to approve $10 billion for new and expanded funding for the Immigration and Control Enforcement agency. Passage came despite growing public outrage at human rights abuses in the siege of Minneapolis by ICE and companion federal agencies including the U.S. Border Patrol. Republicans used their House majority to pass the Trump-backed ICE funding. Democrats opposed with the exception of seven who joined the Trump majority. As a sop to Democrats, the bill required that federal agents use body cameras and undergo additional training on how to interact with the public. The bill next moves to the Senate.
