ST. PAUL, Minn. — A special session of the Legislature collapsed with partisan bickering on ideas tr revamp policing in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in May. Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, R-East Gull Lake, had set Friday as deadline for adjournment. House Speaker Melissa Hortman, D-Brooklyn Park, said majority Democrats in the House were moving toward an agreement. But at 6 a.m., Saturday, Gazelka made good on his deadline and adjourned the Senate. Among unresolved policing issues: Democrats pushed to ban “warrior-style” training for police, to allow cities to impose residency requirements on officers, and to create a state community-led public safety office. Other unfinished business:
> Borrowing money to rebuild Minneapolis and St. Paul neighborhoods that damaged in the unrest that followed Floyd’s killing.
> Creating tax breaks for businesses seeking to rebuild.
> Passing $2.1 billion in federal coronavirus relief money to local governments.
