WINONA, Minn. – Incoming police chief Tom Williams is aware of new challenges stemming from public outrage after the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd in May. Williams said he will track legislative updates that come down from the state. “We have to take a look at those and make sure we’re complying with them and implementing what the Legislature has deemed to be the most appropriate,” Williams said. “Obviously, this summer has really put the spotlight on law enforcement, so we will continue to improve our relationship with the community, building on community outreach officers, which have been very well-received since we first introduced them.”
