MINNESOTA CITY, Minn. — Howard William Volkart, 101, a dairy farmer who served on the Rollingstone Township Board and Midland Cooperative Board, died at home of natural causes. He was a man full of stories, including surviving the Armistice Day Blizzard in the Mississippi River bottoms in 1940. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to1945, serving as an instructor.
