LACROSSE, Wis. — Russell W. Paulson, 98, of La Crosse, whose passions included motorcycles and bird-watching, died at the Mayo hospital. He held a 1979 associates degree in mechanical engineering, which he pursed after being out of school 20years. As a photographer he focused on covered bridges, with more than 100 in his collection. His family said he loved doing nothing more than sitting in a wet ditch at sunset, waiting for that perfect shot.
