WINONA, Minn. – Walter Carroll, 89, who retired after 16 years as quality assurance manager at Peerless Chain and then taught business at Winona State University, died. He held a math degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He was an active volunteer at the Polish Museum, and the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. In both 1999 and 2009 he was named the city’s Outstanding Senior Volunteer.
