HIXTON, Wis. — The State Patrol stopped a woman with a carload of kids after one of the kids texted her dad from the backseat that the adults in the car were smoking drugs. The father called police. Meanwhile, the girl kept updating her dad on their location. The Patrol made the stop on Interstate 94 near Hixton. The officer said the driver, a 31-year-old woman, showed signs of impairment. A field sobriety test confirmed she was under the influence. There was marijuana and paraphernalia in the car, the officer said. In the car were five children — a 12-year-old. an 11-year-old, an 8-year-old, and two 4-year-olds. They were headed east for a day of fun 90 miles ahead at Wisconsin Dells.
