ST, PAUL, Minn. – A proposal for utilities to generate 100% of their electricity from carbon-free resources by 2040 has been introduced in the Minnesota Legislature. The main sponsor, Representative Jamie Long, D-Minneapolis, laid out graduated goals: 40% from renewable energy sources by 2025 and 55% by 2035. The legislation coincides a focus on climate change from the Biden White House. President Joe Biden signed several executive orders last week to limit global warming caused by burning fossil fuels.
