FITCHBURG, Wis. – Fitchburg’s mayor, Aaron Richardson announced his candidacy for state treasurer as a Democrat. Richardson, a Democrat, promised to to continue “the great work” of Treasurer Sarah Godlewski, who is stepping down after one term to run f] or the U.S. Senate. Richardson has been mayor of Figtcburg, population 29,000, a Madison suburb, since 2019. Earlier he was on the City Council. As state rreaurer, Richardson said he would work to make homeownership attainable for people throughout the state and provide financial educational materials to residents and school districts to improve financial literacy. He holds a degree in marketing and management from UW-Green Bay and a master’s in business from UW-Whitewater. He makes his living as a substitute school teacher.
