WINONA, Minn. – High-scoring Winona State forward Kevion Taylor will play his final year of college basketball eligibility at Valparaiso University. Taylor had been shopping around for a Division I school the past month. Winona State is Division 2. He scored 20 or more points in 10 of the Warriors’ 13 games. In minutes played, he led the Warriors with 454 and 2,2 assists. He was named to the Northern Sun conference’s all-Division all-conference first team.

Taylor. His NCAA athletic eligibility was extended a year due to a pandemic rule change that gave athletes an option for an extra year.

Taylor will go down as one of the best in Winona State basketball history. He finished his career at ninth as a Warrior scorer — 1,635 points. He was third in career 3-pointers — 249. He was 10th this year on the rebounding — 636.

The Valpo Crusaders were 10-18 this basketball season in the Missouri Valley Conference.

At Valparaiso, Taylor will find a campus of 3,100 students. It is a private school with Lutheran roots and regular worship services. The student body is 67% white, 9%, Latino, and 6% Black.The campus is near downtown on the South Side of Valparaiso, Indiana. The city, population 35,000, is 55 miles southwest of Chicago and 140 miles from Milwaukee, Taylor’s hometown.
