WINONA, Minn. — A silver 2007 Buick Rainier was reported stolen from the Hy-Vee parking lot. A motorist told police that he had picked up a male hitchhiker on Highway 61 and then stopped at the Hy-Vee grocery near Westgate Mall. He said he went into the store with the hitchhiker but then realized they had forgotten face masks and went back to the car . While grabbing masks, he said, he apparently dropped his keys in the driver’s seat and re-entered the store with the hitchhiker. The hitchhiker then excused himself to go outside. When the driver left the store, the car was gone. The Buick has a Minnesota plates 150-PKP. The theft was reported about 1 p.m.
