STEWARTVILLE, Minn. – Shane Uptagrafft is a youth bowling coach without a bowling alley. His home alley, the Stewartville fixture Strikers Center, closed without notice last week. It came as a surprise to everyone, Uptagrafft said. He has scrambled to arrange practices at Colonial Lanes 12 miles away in in Rochester, but many of Uptagrafft’s yiung bowlers don’t drive. Too, there are team members from as far away as Grand Meadow, 25 miles from Colonial Lanes. For Upptagrafft it’s personal on several evels. “I was part of a team that won state back in 2013,” Uptagrafft told television station KIMT. “A lot of great teams have come through here for bowling.” Meanwhile, he’s grateful for Colonial Lanes for practices. On his mind too is the state tournament just over a week away in Lakeville. Long term, he hopes Strikers can find a new 0wner

Uptagrafft. Name it, it’s his sport: Golf, baseball, bowling.
