WINONA, Minn. – The Winona Health cardiopulmonary rehab program received a $20,000 grant from the Canadian Pacific Railway to update its cardiac monitoring system. Lynn Sprain, program manager, said upgrades are long-term improvements. The railroad’s subdivision roadmaster, Shawn Duce, said the grant is from the company’s CP Has Heart program.

Winona Health’s cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program averages 80 to 100 patients a week for ailments including congestive heart failure, restrictive lung diseases, and heart attacks. More than half of the patients travel are referrals from La Crosse, Madison and Rochester hospitals.
