EYOTA Minn. – A pre-dawn fire destroyed a barn at a factory-scale hog-raising facility and killed an estimated 2,500 animals. The fire was reported at 3:35 a.m. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the farm’s finishing barn for near market-ready hogs. The address: 11271 55th Street Southeast, about five miles south of Eyota and beyond Interstate 90. The loss was estimated at $900,000.
