PICKWICK, Minn. — A project to repair the historically significant but crumbling Pickwick Mill is included for $400,000 in a state borrowing package that has been signed by Governor Tim Walz. The funds cap a six-year local fund-raising project to repair cracks that threaten the towering stone mill, which was built in 1854. The mill is one of southeast Minnesota’s oldest surviving water-powered grist mills. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1970.

Funding source

The 2026 state borrowing bill, totaling $1.2 billion, finances repairs and construction mostly of governmental facilities. The bill passed the state House 122-11 and the state Senate 60-7.
