ROCHESTER, Minn. – A panhandler who followed a man into a downtown hotel and beat him senseless in the lobby pleaded guilty. Ismail Mohamed, 21, of exurban Stewartville, was arrested in the lobby, where several witnesses tore him off the victim and pinned him down until police arrived. The attack was in June at the upscale Hilton Garden Hotel on Broadway. The victim, age 60, told police he was walking back to the hotel frm a nearby bar when two men approached him for money. When he said no, they followed him to the hotel, one of the men indicating he was armed. The first officer at the scene said the victim had blood running down his face and his left eye protruding from his skull.
