AMHERSTBURG, Ont. — A 500-foot freighter that became stuck and blocked a Detroit River shipping channel has been refloated. After being freed, the Harvest Spirit was anchored nearby to await government safety inspections. There were no injuries reported. Nor any pollution. For two days the Harvest Spirit had blocked the busy Detroit River gateway to the Upper Great Lakes. With the Harvest Spirit freed, other ships resumed their voyages through the Livingstone Channel on the U.S.-Canada border.
