STEWARTVILLE, Minn. — A high school wrestler was shot and seriously wounded while the team was boarding a bus for a tournament. As coaches rushed to help the fallen student, a second shot was heard. The shooter, some distance away, had turned his rifle on himself. He died. The wounded wrestler was taken 14 miles to a Rochester hospital in critical condition. The shooting was about 5 a.m. in the Stewartville Middle-High School parking lot. The wrestling team, about 40 boys, was leaving for a tournament seven hours away in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Schools Superintendent Belinda Selfors called off classes and cancelled activities. The school has 490 students in Grades 9 through 12 and 500 in Grades 6 through 8.
