MENOMONIE, Wis. – An airborne State Patrol trooper tracked a car that another trooper had been pursuing on I-94 for speeding. The ground trooper had tried to stop the westbound vehicle for speeding, but driver turned around at a crossover and headed east. Thirteen miles later the trooper lost the vehicle. A state patrol trooper in an airplane then spotted the vehicle — now westbound again on I-94 again. Another ground trooper gave chase. The vehicle hit police tire deflation devices that flattened the two front tires. The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of a manufacturing plant just north of Menomonie. Three occupants ran on foot but were arrested after a search. Troopers found a loaded handgun in the vehicle and retrieved another handgun in a ditch. Pending charges included fleeing, possessing a firearm illegally, possessing marijuana and paraphernalia,  resisting arrest, speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
