PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. — A 34-year-old Winona woman was killed in a head-on collision 20 miles north of Praier du Chien on Highway 35 at Caya Road. Police said the woman, driving aa 2020 Dodge, crossed over the centerline and hit a semi-tractor head-on. The Durango overturned in the middle of the road and caught fire. The woman died at the scene. The semi went off the road into a marshy area between the highway and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks. The semi driver, 63, from Prairie du Chien, survived with non-life threatening injuries. The accident happened about about 3:15 a.m. The highway was closed eight hours while the wreckage was cleaned up.
