ST. CLOUD, Minn. — A Sartell man has been charged with arson for an attempt to burn down his mother-in-law’s house. Erin Idzerda, 40, had been checking on the home since 2017 while his mother-in-law was under care for cancer at Mayo Clinic. Reportedly Idzerda faced problems with the mortgage and discussed a possible insurance claim if the house burned down. The fire marshal said the fire started in the basement from a pile of combustibles. The house was in the 800 block of 2-1/2 Street North in Sartell, which is just north of St. Cloud. Idzerda’s mother-in-law has since died.
