WASHINGTON – The Wisconsin Republican leadership is uncertain whether Senator Ron Johnson will seek a third term and has backup plans if he doesn’t, according to the Capitol newsletter The Hill. The report, based in multiple interviews, followed a radio interview in which Johnson said he wasn’t sure whether hew as the best candidate for 2022. Johnson fell, short, however, of announcing his retirement. The Hill noted that Johnson may be vulnerable because of his confused messaging on Covid vaccines and on the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Also, polls show Wisconsin shifting purple after a decade of going Republican.
