WILSON, Minn. – Suddenly there was a deer in the headlamps. Michael John Laak, 66, of Maple Grove, felt the impact as he began down Highway 43 into Winona just beyond the Interstate 90 interchange. He escaped injury. His passenger, Linda Louis Laask, 54, also of Maple Grove, needed to go to the Winona hospital albeit for non-life threatening injuries. No, the deer didn’t survive. They were in a 2014 Buick Enclave. This was about 8:10 p.m.
