WASHINGTON – Among candidates whom President Trump is considering for the U.S. Supreme Court is Diane Sykes, who served on the Wisconsin Supreme Court from 1999 to 2004. Sykes, age 62, also clerked for Judge Terence Evans on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Since 2004 she has been a federal judge the Seventh Circuit in Chicago, an appointee of President George W. Bush. She came to Trump’s attention for the U.. Supreme Court, among 30-some others, on the recommendation of the ultra-conservative Federalist Society. Sykes’ record:
> Committing to overturning the Roe v. Wade case that gave women the right to choose an abortion.
> Committing to overturing Obamcare.
> Reinstating Wisconsin’s discriminatory voter ID law.
> Approving the discriminatory practice of the Autozone aftermarket car parts company to assign employees todesignated “African-American stores” or “Hispanic stores.”
> Exempting the Hobby Lobby crafts retailer and other companex from a federal mandate for contraceptives based on the owners’ religious objections.
> Overruling a Chicago ban on firing ranges within city limits.
