ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Canton driver heading south out of Rochester ran into the rear of a truck and was fatally injured. Leon Ernest Simpson, 63, was declared dead at St. Marys hospital in Rochester. The accident was about 6:55 p.m. on U.S. Highway 52 just short of Interstate 90. The driver of the truck, Terry, Ray Huffman, 73, of Brainerd, was unhurt. Deputies said that Simpson was driving 2015 Dodge Journey, Huffman a 2000 Volvo semi-truck trailer. Road conditions were dry, deputies said.
