WINONA, Minn. – A Winona woman, Ashley Meghan Fransis Hemmelman, 26, was arrested after weaving at the wheel on Main Street between Second and Sarnia about 2:20 a.m. Police said she kept crossing the fog line. Then they spotted an object hanging from her rearview mirror, a legal no-no albeit petty .Then they discovered her vehicle had expired vehicle registration. Then there was an “overwhelming” odor of alcohol and Hemmelman admitting to drinking earlier in the evening, police said. Field breath tests followed, all of which police said she failed. At the jail another test measured her blood-alcohol content at 0.19% — almost 2-1/2 times the allowable max. Police referred her to the county attorney for a charge of drunken driving.
