WINONA, Minn.—Winona businesses cashed in on a second of $1 million in federal CoVid relief funds within 24 hours of when the money becane available. The funds, from the U.S. Rescue America program, were distributed through a contract with the Winona Chamber of Commerce. Christy Ransom, Chamber president, said the grants, for as much as $20,000 each, were distributed first come, first served. “The need is so profound,” Ransom said in a KWNO interview. Businesses are struggling with supply chain issues, a workforce shortage, and increasing rent and utilities, she said.
