LAKE CITY, Minn. – These are the Army Corps of Engineers’ Lake Pepin ice measurements so far this season. Measurements are roughly at one-mile intervals the 22-mile length of the lake. Navigation typically opens sometime in mid-March at 12 inches. Word of caution. At places near shore the ice is perilously thin, even nonexistent.

March 2: Thickest ice 24 inches.

February 23: 23 inches.
