WINONA, Minn. – A high school basketball super-performer from Watertown Wisconsin, Nate Gapinski, committed himself to Winona State University. Gapinski is a 6-foot-6 forward. He’s scored 28 points on opening night for the Watertown Goslings this fall. Since then he’s garnered two games with 30 points each and 10 rebounds or better. He’s averaged 17.9 points per game.

Breana Larsen, the university’s internal watchdog for compliance with NCAA regulations, denied an earlier report that Gapinski had a full-ride scholarship. She declined, however, to say how much he was offered. Such, she said, is private information.
