MINNEISKA, Minn. – A Wisconsin man was arrested and charged with busting windows out of a sheriff’s squad car with a baton stolen from the deputy’s house. Arrested in the woods near the house was Derrick Michael Rapley, 22, of Altoona. Deputy Charlie Rolbiecki said he was alerted to the burglary in the afternoon by two children living in his house in the 23000 block of Whitman Deering Drive. Coming home, Rolbiecki discovered several. broken windows and missing boots and clothing. Rolbiecki checked the dashboard camera in his squad car, which was parked outside. It showed a man trying to break into the vehicle, then taking off into the woods. Multiple agencies responded and apprehended Rapley without incident.  Meanwhile, the two juveniles in Deputy Rolbiecki’s home during the burglary and subsequent commotio were shaken but unhurt.

Rapley. Booked for first-degree burglary, theft, and damage to property.  It turned out, too, that he had outstanding felony warrants.
