LANSING, Iowa – Ten coal cars of a Canadian Pacific unit train derailed with the load in one car spilling into the Mississippi River. No one was injured. The accident was about 6:40 a.m. four miles south of Lansing, just downriver from the Alliant Energy power plant. Crews from the railroad and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources worked were called for the clean-up.
