WINONA, Minn. — A request to expand its herd was approved by the County Board for D&D Dairy north of Rushford. The herd, now 979 animal units, will go to 1,478. That’s 1a 50% increase, right to the county’s allowable maximum. Even so, it’s large enough to require state, not county, inspections for compliance. D&D, owned Dean, Greg and Randy Smith, can now grow to as manhy as 1,052 cows and 25 calves.
