MADISON, Wis. – The state Natural Department is seeking public help to identify black bear wintering dens for a study on bear reproduction. Data are for an eight-year study on whether raiding garbage dumps and trash barrels affects cub survival rates and litter sizes. When dens are located, game wardens will tag mother bears with GPS collars to learn about foraging behavior, litter frequency, litter size, and the survival rates of cubs. Reporting form.
