WINONA, Minn. – The Winona area was largely spared from early snowstorm that dropped seven inches in parts of Minnesota. Seven inches fell in the Twin Cities – a record. Winona had about an inch. Other depths:

> Galesville. 0.8 inches
> Rochester, 3.9 inches
> Osseo, 5.0 inches
> Stockton, 1.1 inches
> Wabasha, 4.8 inches
Statewide there were 493 crashes, 614 spinouts, and 22 jack-knifed semis, the State Patrol said.
