NEW ORLEANS, La.– A dirty trick in the New Hampshire presidential primary originated with a consultant to Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips, NBC reported. The consultant hired an artificial-intelligence expert to fake the voice of President Biden for the robocall, the network reported. The robocall went to at least 5,000 voters, perhaps 25,000. NBC said the Phillips consultant, Steve Kramer, was responsible. A New Orleans street magician was quoted that he was paid $150 to create the artificially generated message in a sound-alike Biden voice. The magician showed NBC a message from Kramer with a script for the message. This was three days before the January 23 New Hampshire primary. The robocall went out the next day. The New Orleans street magician, Paul Carpenter, said he thought Kramer was with the Biden campaign. The project was pitched to him as a time-saving and cost-saving measure so Biden wouldn’t need to go to a recording studio, Carpenter said: “I didn’t know anything about Kramer working on the other presidential campaign”
