WINONA, Minn. – A man doing wheelies and other stunts on an all-terrain vehicle on a city street was severely injured when the vehicle hit a curb, overturned and fell on him. The man, unconscious, was airlifted to a LaCrosse hospital. This was about 7:50 p.m. at Olmstead and Fourth streets on the West Side. The man was boozed up, police said. Witnesses said the man, after striking the curb, restarted the ATV and attempted to drive off. But, they said, the front tires gave out, which flipped the rider and the ATV forward. The vehicle landed on the rider. Although the crushing injuries appeared life-threatening at the scene, man was expected to recover.
