LA CROSSE, Wis. – Veteran WKBT news anchors Jennifer Livingston and Mike Thompson announced their departure live on their final newscasts. She will be joining Mayo Clinic in LaCrosse as community-based outreach director. He will become a house-dad. Jennifer Livingston, a Wartburg College grad, had been at the station since 1997. Mike Thompson, a UW-Madison grad, joined the station in 2005 after five years at cross-town rival WXOW.
Moving on. Livingston, a morning host, gained national attention after a viewer called her a bad role model because of her weight. Her editorial response went viral and motivated viewers to stand up to bullies. Thompson has been an evening anchor.
