WINONA, Minn. – A fire crew responded to a heat detection alarm at Wesley United Methodist Church but found nothing amiss. It wasn’t easy getting in. They were unable to find a lockbox with a key so they entered through a window. A walkthrough showed no signs of a fire. When a key holder arrived, they found a problem in the Boy Scout meeting room. The alarm was subsequently reset. This all was about 7:30 p.m.

Thank the Lord, not again.

Wesley United Methodist parishioners are especially sensitive about fire, all having heard stories about the 1961 fire that destroyed the church, except for the bell tower and steeple.
