WINONA, Minn. – Four people were rescued in the dark, a little before 3 a.m., after an unevenly loaded boat overturned in the Mississippi River. Emergency crews located the boat near an island, three of the people shivering atop the overturned craft and one standing in the water. Although cold, none appeared injured. They were taken to the Winona hospital to be checked out. The boat’s driver told the rescue team that the boat was overloaded at the bow, went under, and then popped up but upside-down.
