WASHINGTON – The 2023 federal budget that Congress approved this week includes funds for jobs, energy efficiency, health facilities, and medical research in southeast Minnesota. In a joint statement, Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith listed these projects:

> District Energy System, Rochester: $2 million for solar and geothermal improvements to connect buildings with sustainable energy.

> Riverland Community College, Austin: $1.9 million for scholarships for career-focused-manufacturing and transportation programs.

> Hormel Institute, Austin: $1.5 million for equipment at the University of Minnesota BioMedical Imaging Center.

> Zumbro Valley Health Center, Rochester:  $676,000 for intensive mental health, substance abuse and ither services.

> Gundersen St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Wabasha: $250,000 to modernize long-term care ser ices.
